POETRY: NIGERIA@53 #THE GREEN LAND#

image

Feel the poem for I dedicated for our independence:
INDEPENDENCE DAY (The Green Land; Nigeria@53)

Once a nation under the shackles of colonialism
Once referred to as the black nation
The imperial overlords made it a site of adventurism
Independence was then thus an illusion.

A nation that originated from the ‘Niger’ area
The pre-colonial era was its heritage
Before the colonialists arrived…the ‘diasporas’
The scramble for Africa…during the ‘Brussel age’.

Her alluring name, given by Flora Shaw
The recognition was thus achieved
The amalgamation of nineteen fourteen SHE thus foresaw
Series of thick and thin made HER bereaved.

That land as green as vegetation
Endowed with natural resources
In 1960,the status of independence thus created felicitation
Even monarchs jubilating on horses.

Though secession threatened through the ravages of the Civil war
But SHE became stronger amidst the tussle
Khakistocracy  came  with a gnaw
Not until republicanism burst forth with a dazzle.

Celebrating the independence of a blessed country
The giant of Africa,SHE is
Endowed with great people of dexterity
Standing united in co-operation and peace

Though the water is troubled
We wouldn’t reject bathing in it,even if we drink not
The mournful scenario of education…the government grumbled
Hoping someday that change cometh forth.

NIGERIA;Our father’s land,Our pride,Our home,
Where flourish flourishes…just like Rome.

**Wishing my father’s land NIGERIA an happy independence.I know we have reasons not to felicitate for the independence due to the misdemeanour sitting on the wheel chair of the nation presently, however, freedom is might;might is freedom,it’s our independence we celebrate here**

GOD BLESS NIGERIA@53#TEAM CHANGE NIGERIA#HAPPY INDEPENDENCE & HAPPY NEW MONTH#

  1. I don’t want to sound pessimistic but I think that †ђξ corruption in Nigeria is deep rooted into the fabrics of Nigerian that it has become a norm and a thing to be proud of. In other words, to root out corruption or reduce it to at least 50-50 is not feasible especially in †ђis 4th republic.

    1. That’s so true sir,the venom corruption has so eaten deep that the world transparency is far gone into extinction…This can be found in all aspects of governance, especially on the side of those who call themselves mere leaders.bur are unscrupulous cheaters who feed on others sweat…

      1. yes sir…I’m very much good.. Wow,Thanks a lot,I’m really happy to hear that and I won’t stop writing cos that’s the best profession one who admires life, literature & art can really venture into.

  2. Nice read, thought Nigeria is still a ‘black nation’.
Also I don’t think anything is worth celebrating @53.

    1. Mmmmmm….Seriously nothing if we should consider the status quo….I know & believe that the change we sought for is on its way

  3. Nigeria… Nothing stand if God cant use it to fulfill his purpose and nothing God cant control or use just 4 his purpose. For this contry to exist there is reason and purpose which is divinly concieved. Am a Nigerian, you are a Nigerian. The entity is just like any other of its type else where. I knw if rain, air, sun and dew comes from God @ their appointed time our time is @ hand. And its now…. Live long Nigeria. We love God, we hate devil. Hurray.
